Yesterday was the 4th of July, American Independence Day. A time to celebrate being American.

Over the years, I’ve recognized this holiday in many different ways and places. But rarely do I find this tradition — with fireworks, sparklers and an over abundance of beer and food — really speaks to the experience of being an American. Portland, a travelogue with food

Portland, OR has gotten a lot of attention lately. Perhaps it’s a Portlandia thing. I’m not sure. Clearly, Portlandia wouldn’t be worth watching if there wasn’t something interesting happening in Portland. It’s definitely the hipster capital of the West coast, but there’s a great deal more to the city. Beautiful gardens, great restaurants, an awesome independent bookstore, and a wonderfully diverse bunch of seemingly happy people who make it a great place to visit and explore.

Oh, dear me. Have we really just started a food blog?

Well, yes. We have. And, to be quite frank, we’re pleased. Here are some important reasons why…

We have been regular food blog readers for as long as blogs have existed. Over the last few years we have come to see food blogs as a unique realm in the blogosphere where some of the most interesting and enjoyable (from a reader’s perspective) writing is being done. There is a wonderful community of foodie writers out there who have been working diligently to ensure readers are never lacking for great reading, inspiring recipes, beautiful food photography, and more.
